PTOL NIGERIA OPERATING PROCEDURES

Mixed Cargo Export Operations

HOW IT WORKS

From cargo consolidation to vessel departure

These steps outline PTOL’s mixed-cargo export process, including provisional payment, vessel operations and terminal delivery reporting.

EXPORT OPERATIONS

Mixed cargo process

  1. 01

    Advising Shipper on Cargo Consolidation

Customer Service advises the shipper on the consolidation of non-containerised cargo to support efficient use of vessel space and smooth export operations.

  2. 02

    Provisional Payment Confirmation

The shipper confirms the cargo arrangement by making the required provisional payment, which is verified by the Finance Department.

  3. 03

    Arrival of Vessel

Upon arrival of the vessel, the Export Team is notified and prepares for cargo-handling operations in coordination with the relevant vessel personnel.

  4. 04

    Advising Shipper on Operational Mode

PTOL Vessel Planners recommend the appropriate operational mode for loading, which may include the use of jumbo bags or other suitable handling methods, depending on the nature of the cargo.

  5. 05

    Cargo-Handling Operation

The cargo is handled and loaded in accordance with the agreed operational plan, under the supervision of the relevant operational personnel and tally clerks.

  6. 06

Completion of Operations & Vessel Unberthing

Once loading operations are completed, the cargo-handling activities are confirmed, and the vessel proceeds with the required unberthing and departure arrangements.

  7. 07

Terminal Delivery Report & Final Payment

The Vessel Planning Team prepares the Terminal Delivery Report (TDR), detailing the cargo handled and services provided. The report is forwarded for billing, final invoicing and settlement by the shipper.
